Okay, so I have a problem. I admit it. I'm a makeup addict, but more specifically, a base and bronzer addict. How many brownish powders can one person have? I never ever in a million years thought a person with my ultra-pale complexion could or should wear bronzer. But after trial and error (oh-so-much error) I've realized that bronzer and contour powders are one of my favorite steps in my makeup routine.
There are three categories of bronzers and contour powders that make up my collection - bronzers, blushes and palettes.
Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light - this bronzer. Ooooh this bronzer. It has the perfect amount of glow and warmth without making me look like an Oompa Loompa.
Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Bronze Perfect Tan in Tantric - this is the first bronzer I ever tried. Its matte formula provides a more sculpted look as opposed to a glow, but its warmth still makes me look like I spent a little time in the sun.
The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in Light Matte - another Essie Button influence, this bronzer was made for fair-skinned folks. Its matte formula and light color work as more of a contour on my complexion.
Blushes & Non-Bronzers:
NARS blush in Madly - are you sick of me talking about this yet? Well, it's safe to say this blush is here to stay as long as it stays in stock. This product is so multipurpose, but when used as a blush and contour powder it gives me cheekbones for days.
MAC Cosmetics blush in Harmony - when I want a true contour I reach for this beauty. It mimics the shadows of my face for a more natural shade. It's gorgeous as both a blush and contour powder.
NYX Cosmetics Blotting Powder in Deep - this is intended to be a blotting powder for folks with darker skin tones, but I'm trying it out as a contour powder. It's a little too powdery, but the shade is very similar to the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer (which I'm obviously lusting after).
NYX Cosmetics Highlight & Contour Pro Palette - I've never used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette, but I've heard this is a pretty good dupe for it (and it's currently on sale!). Its grey-toned powder is perfect for contour, while its deeper shades are beautiful for bronzing.
Marc Jacobs Beauty #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder - this powder is also more grey-toned for a more realistic shadow to give the appearance of naturally carved cheekbones.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette - I prefer to use these powders mixed all together to create a glowing setting powder, but the shade Radiant Light can be used exclusively as a perfectly luminescent bronzer.
NARS Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection Limited Edition One Night Stand Cheek Palette - unfortunately this palette is no longer readily available, but the bronzer that comes in it is. NARS Laguna bronzer is a cult classic in the beauty world, but I have to say I'm not totally in love with it. This product does make my complexion look a little muddy, but it can be used either with a very, very light hand or as an eyeshadow.
Bronzers and contour powders make me so incredibly happy. They give my face definition and shape and are very versatile. I clearly don't need another bronzer for the rest of my life, but they are too dang beautiful not to collect.
