About two or three years ago a few friends and I went to an art fair in Oshkosh, Wis. where we met jewelry designer Cire' Alexandria of the jewelry line C. Alexandria by hand. Not only were Cire's pieces beautiful, but she was one of the kindest, most welcoming people who made supporting her art a no-brainer. I purchased a vegan leather makeup pouch, which I've featured here, as well as a pyrite necklace that I've worn almost every day since I purchased it three years ago. She travels all over the Midwest and to cities across the country with her stunning jewelry and also has an online store that's whimsical, minimal, and lovely.
Cire' has kindly connected with me to not only be featured as a Meet the Midwest artist, but also to share one of her pieces with my readers in a giveaway! To learn a little bit more about C. Alexandria by hand and to enter our giveaway, keep on reading.
I dare you not to fall in love with Cire' and her jewelry. (Also, she looks exactly like Joanna Newsom, right?)
1. What materials do you use most often in your pieces?
I love using brass and gold fill. I love the warmth and richness it brings to stones without costing a fortune.
2. How did you decide on your jewelry’s aesthetic?
I make what I want to wear, what I'm drawn to and inspired by. My work is really based upon my mood.
3. How does the Midwest inspire you and your jewelry?
I tend to keep things simple, want my work to be approachable and wearable. The Midwest is not really known as a fashion hub, but I like that my work can be worn anywhere and be in style.
4. What are three things essential to your makeup bag?
#1 Arbonne mascara! It smells like lilacs and makes your lashes grow!
#2 peachy pink blush
#3 a bold lip color, my current fave is a raspberry shade

5. What are three things essential to your work space?
#1 my jewelers saw
#2 my hammer
#3 coffee, does that count?! Lol lots of coffee! (of course coffee counts, Cire'!)
6. Have you read anything lately that you loved? If so, what was it?
I just read the book Seducing Strangers: How to Get People to Buy What You're Selling (The Little Black Book of Advertising Secrets). It was written by one of the writers of the Mad Men series. It's a great book, funny and poignant - a lot of great advice and a simple breakdown of how advertising works. It's a great short read! Also I learned a lot, hopefully things I can use in my own business!
The C. Alexandria piece Cire' is sharing with us is her gorgeous moth necklace. It's hand made of brass on a 28" long oxidized sterling silver chain, valued at $68.00.
