For the last week I've been in my favorite place of all time, Rhode Island. It's been my home away from home my entire life. My dad grew up here and some of our family still lives in this beautiful state. Each summer my family and I spend about a week here visiting with our Grammy and other family members, enjoying time at the beach, and exploring some of the nooks and crannies Rhode Island has to offer.
I've also started making it a tradition to peruse through my Grammy's and late Papa's old photos while I'm at their house. I've been collecting and preserving these photos to hopefully build an archive our family and future generations can appreciate. This trip yielded some of my favorite photos to date. Including one that's shown below.
Because of my travels, I've made sure to pack a hat, a good book, and a few travel minis. I haven't been able to put down The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I'm nearing the end and I still don't know what's going to happen! July was also a month for beauty favorites, of course. I've been loving mixing the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer and the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation. It creates a flawless finish without feeling too heavy. Because it's been so warm in both Wisconsin and Rhode Island, I've been loving the Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer, which is waterproof. Also in the complexion department is the Hourglass Ambient Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light, which I haven't stopped loving (or talking about) since I purchased it months ago. Applying it with the Bobbi Brown Sheer Powder brush is my favorite combination. A few other makeup bits I've been loving are the Sephora Cream Lip Cream in Marvelous Mauve, the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, the Commodity Gold Travel Spray and the Bumble and bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer.
Apart from simply being in Rhode Island, my most special treasure from the month of July was this photo of my Grammy Kane that I discovered on this recent trip. It's her graduation photo, which she gave to my Papa when they first started dating with the note "All my Love, Betty." Knowing how much my Grammy loved and still loves my Papa makes my heart full. They were the foundation of our family and kept all of their siblings, kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews close even to this day. I am so blessed to have the family I do, one filled with love, pride, and a lot of spirit.
