Ever since we were little girls, my sister and I knew there was something special about Rhode Island. Our dad grew up there, and while Kaitlin and I never lived in Rhode Island, we spent just about every summer in the state that became our home away from home.
It's the place where our grandparents and parents met, fell in love and raised their families. It only made sense that my sister would marry the love of her life in Rhode Island.
The wedding week, though chaotic, yielded the same magic Kaitlin and I had felt our entire lives visiting Rhode Island. Besides seeing my sister get married on the beach we grew up on to a man who truly loves and respects her, the best part of the trip was showing our friends who travelled there for the wedding around parts of the state the mean the most to our family. We were able to share all of the locations they've been subjected to hearing about for decades.
While getting to see our friends finally understand what we meant about Rhode Island's magic after all of these years, nothing topped celebrating my sister on the best day of her life in the best state in the country surrounded by the best friends and family.
