When some people think of the smokey eye, they tend to imagine black and gray shadows covering the eyelids and heaps of black eyeliner. Not only is that combination a little stale, in my opinion, it also doesn't suit my skin tone. I've found that rich cranberries and aubergine-browns bring out my green (sometimes blue) eyes and complement my fair skin so much better. The perfect shadow pairing for me is the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk and The Balm's Matt Garcia from the Meet Matt(e) Nude palette. Pomegranate Punk is only $6.99 and the Meet Matt(e) Nude palette is $42.00. That might still be a little steep for some folks, but think about this - you get nine crazy-pigmented, buttery shadows totaling 0.9 ounces when something like the NARS And God Created the Woman Eye Kit offers only six shadows totaling .0.18 ounces for $59.oo. I'm in love with this palette and its ability to give me anything from a smokey eye to an everyday look. You could say Matt and I are involved.
