September came and went, but it still managed to yield some favorites. This month I actually struggled to remember some of my favorites because so many of these products became such staples in my routine that I forgot they weren't actually attached to my body at all times. From makeup and skincare to accessories, hair care, body care and plants, I found myself gravitating towards some pretty special items throughout the month.
This past month I've been very much into quick eye makeup balanced by bold lips. The two eyeshadow palettes I reached for the most were my two NARS duos in Earth Angel and Isolde. I've utilized all four colors that come in each duo. Earth Angel comes with a cool taupe shimmer and an iridescent olive shade, and Isolde offers a true gold shimmer and metallic copper, both of which are crazy pigmented. I have been using all four colors as a quick wash of color over lid, which I apply with a packing brush and blend out with a clean fluffy brush that doesn't have any product on it. Partnered with mascara and a flesh-colored eye pencil on the waterline, my eyes have appeared to take much more effort than it actually required. For lips, I've been going between ultra-matte, ultra-bold lipsticks and moisturizing balms. The two balms I've been reaching for the most are the Sonia Kashuk Moisture Luxe Tinted Lip Balm in Hint of Berry and my brand new Farmacy Lip Bloom in Lavender Mint. The Sonia Kashuk balm serves as the perfect balance between nourishing balm and a hint of color. It brightens by complexion, keeps my lips smooth, and doesn't require any fuss. I've been applying the Farmacy balm before bed every night and it lasts even until the early morning hours.
I usually don't get too amped up about body wash, but my new Caldrea Apple Mint body wash is something special. While there is definitely a noticeable, subtly sweet apple scent, the spearmint and cedarwood essential oils stand out and add a warmth to the product, which makes showering feel even more like a luxury. Moving north to my hair, I've started using the Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Condition in my hair care routine. Folks -- these are game changers. My hair has never felt cleaner or softer. I've completely massacred my hair over the years through dying, bleaching, and hot tools, and these already seem to be reversing some of that damage. Pureology uses 100% vegan products, so your hair and your conscience remain clean. In the same, cruelty-free vein, I've been loving my Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm. I wake up with my skin feeling nourished and plump after using this product before bed thanks to its naturally derived, cruelty-free ingredients. This product is still very new to my routine, so I'll have to try it a little longer to give a full review.
Brows are the one area of my makeup routine that I could never miss no matter how much of a rush I'm in. The duo that I've been loving for months now is the Sonia Kashuk Brow Definer in Taupe and the Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper & Hair Touch Up in Blonde. When I don't have time to use my Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade for extra-fleek brows, I love using this quick pencil and tinted brow gel pair for full, natural-looking brows. Another staple that I've been carrying with me in purse since the day I purchased it is the NARS Light-Reflecting Pressed Setting Powder in Translucent Crystal. Whether my t-zone needs a touch up or I need to set my under-eye concealer, this powder perfects my complexion and allows my base to stay put for much longer while offering a slight glow and velvet texture to my skin.
In the non-beauty department I've been in love with a couple of new dainty jewelry pieces I've added to my collection, as well as a few new plant babies that have made their way into my life. As much as I love makeup and accessories, plants bring me joy material possessions can't surpass. This month I added a beautiful new succulent and two small fiddle leaf fig trees to my home thanks to a crazy discount at my local nursery. Having living things in my apartment besides Chrysanthemum and myself freshens up my space and adds an organic quality to my home. September was also the birthday month for a few of my favorite people including my mama and some of my dearest friends. Celebrations were had (and accompanied by yummy meals, laughs, and caramel apples), but most importantly I had several moments to think about how lucky I am to have such amazing people in my life.
I apologize for the delay in this month's favorites, but I had to make sure I included everything September brought to me this year. Anything special y'all discovered this month? Leave me a comment below!
