Talking about makeup, fashion and interior design is so much fun for me, but above my interests in beauty and style is my love for family. Over the last five or so years I've been collecting as many vintage family photos as possible to have tangible pieces of my history surrounding me at all times. Throughout my bedroom I have framed photos hung (horribly) above the areas where I spend the most time - my bed, my makeup desk and near my doorway. I feel protected having my grandparents' and parents' images displayed in the most lived-in part of my apartment. The photos I have from my dad's side of the family are all originals that date back to the 40s, which are heirlooms I intend on keeping and passing down for as long as they hold up. They are among my most prized possessions, which also include my mom's vintage Konica camera and rings given to my Grammy Kane from my Papa Kane when they were first married. I am incredibly attached to these photos and the memories they represent. I get emotional every time I look at them knowing that many of the people in these photos have become memories themselves. While I may not be a knowledgeable historian in the same way as my dad, there is no greater pride I have than being able to share my family's stories and history with anyone who cares to listen.
