Cold and flu season has arrived and I have fallen victim to its symptoms. Of course life doesn't stop when we're feeling like crap, so sometimes I take the fake-it-till-you-make-it route with the help of some uplifting beauty products.
Brightening my face is the first step to making me look better than I feel. A rosy cream blush like the Make Up For Ever HD Blush in 420 Indian Rosewood brings color back to my face and a creamy lip product like the Korres Lip Butter keeps my lips hydrated while also adding a lively tint to my complexion.
Keeping my base light is another integral step to making my dull, sallow complexion look healthier than it is. When I'm under the weather I choose a foundation I'm comfortable with. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is a staple in my collection and it's a trusted base that makes my skin look dewy even when it feels dehydrated. For even more brightness I choose to wear a concealer under my eyes that's a shade lighter than my skin tone. The Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer tackles my dark circles like a pro. For my eyes I choose a light champagne shade to wear all over the lid like Skimp or Stark from the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette, then curl my lashes (this part is a must!), and add a few coats of lengthening mascara.
Even though my sense of smell has been compromised, making sure I smell nice is another part of feeling better. Something light and soft like Nest's Dahlia & Vines is the perfect sick day scent.
Finally, there is nothing that makes me feel better on a sick day than a warm drink like tea or hot chocolate and a huge snuggle from my mom (pictured above getting a snuggle from her mom). And once I get home I won't be seen with anything but pajamas, a giant blanket, and all of the cough drops.
Stay healthy, y'all!
